Can not create mesh with less that 17k Tri's 3.5

Trying to create a mesh with 10k or less tris results in every mesh generated been at least 17k.

It would be great to be able to create meshes with as little polygons as possible for game asset production without having to take into 3DS Max or Maya...

    Marry Christmas btw .. :P

    Hi Liam,

there's a minimum angle limit that is probably restricting the simplification in your case.
For extreme simplification, I suggest you to try to use the retopology filter instead of the simplification one. For example, if you have 100k as input vertex and set the re-topology factor to 10, you will get a mesh of approximately 10k vertices.

As an additional protip, the best way to generate lowpoly meshes and to preserve details is to directly use photoconsistency filter. Image resolution and target reprojection area directly influence the final polygon count. In particular, if you set an high targer reprojection area, you will obtain a low poly mesh. Unfortunately there's an way to compute the exact number of polygons before running it.
