What is the meaning of this distance

    Hello all,

I used the quick measurement button to make a measurement of the width of my subject (see image attached down below).

Now under distance there is the number 1.43651.

What is the meaning of this number? What is the unit of this distance? Can anybody help?

    Thank you in advance...

    Hi Furkan,

It's 1.43651 units. Whatever the units are, it's up to you: all 3D reconstructions are made by zephyr are subject to an arbitrary scale factor, a translation and a rotation.

If you need to bring those units into something else (e.g. meters, bananas .. ) you need to have a known distance in the scene and use that for rescaling. In zephyr pro and aerial you can do it easily directly using control points and control distances https://www.3dflow.net/technology/do...es-3df-zephyr/

If you're using zephyr Free or Lite, you should probably do it in an external software (e.g. blender)

      Hello Andrea,

thank you. Is this scaling process time consuming?

Which external software would you prefer?

        Hi Furkan,

with Pro/Aerial is super quick and easy. Simply place a few control points, define the distance and then scale the world with known distances (i.e. by telilng zephyr that distance between control point A and B is 1m rather than whatever has been reconstructed).

With other software, you have to do it manually so it's longer and more prone to error. I would probably use blender if you don't need accuracy and just a quick rescale.

Accuracy is an important point for me. Do you know any software which offers accuracy?

If accuracy is important, then the best way would be to use control points directly in Zephyr (Pro or Aerial)
