Extract Frames from video file - Sample Rate - Formula

Hi, I'm trying to understand the function of the Sample Rate of the Extract Frames from video file workflow. My understanding seems to be backwards.

If I have a 2 minute long video and set the sample rate to 1fps, it results in fewer extracted frames. If i set it to 2fps, it results in more extracted frames. I would think a larger sample rate, would result in fewer images.

I'm looking how i can (by using a formula of some sort), target how many frames will be extracted. This is so that if I have a video of a certain length, I can try to use the entire video and stay under a certain amount of frames extracted. Is this possible?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi foxbat,

assume you have a video of 2 minutes (120 seconds).

If you extract 1 frame per second you will get 120 frames.
If you extract 2 frames per second, 240, and so on.

That's as simple as that - regardless of the framerate the video is recorded.

    I hope this helps!
