    Presets in Processes

    Hello.

While processing in 3DF Zephyr, I usually select the default settings from the presets option. For example, in the "Workflow > 3D Model Generation" section, I choose "Deep" or "High Resolution." However, is there any advanced or custom setting you would recommend modifying? I want to enhance image clarity, especially for 100-meter flights. I already experiment with different flight modes, but if there are any specific settings you suggest adjusting, I’d love to try them.

Thank you in advance for your insights and suggestions. Best regards.

    Hi,

"more" does not automatically mean "better". Especially in the SfM phase, if the photos are good, the camera autocalibration isn't suffering (e.g. due to very high distortion and few photos, or one of the many other factors), you risk just letting zephyr take a much longer route to converge to the same solution. For the other steps, in general it's true that a higher resolution could bring more details, but more noise also mean more ambiguity, so if the photos aren't very good it's possible that you'll get a more noisy result.

So you should always adjust your preset selection by looking at your dataset input first and foremost. This takes a bit of experience, and I generally suggest starting from the "default" preset and then adjusting based on your results and expectation for the output. Most presets should work well for most use cases, however indeed, as y ou get experience, you can switch to the advanced view, which allows you to switch parameter settings but still in a human -readable way. You can find a tuning guide (albeit a bit outdated) here https://www.3dflow.net/3df-zephyr-pa...-tuning-guide/

Thank you for your response. Even though I don’t know you personally, you have helped me a lot so far. I sincerely appreciate that.

Modifying certain details during use, such as adjusting contrast in Photoshop, is something done on the main file. However, I was wondering if there is anything extra we can do while creating the main file itself. I have always used this program on my own and learned it with the support of good people like you. For this reason, I was curious if there was anything more I could do for the benefit of my workplace.

Thank you very much! Let’s take a look and see.

If with "main file" you're referring to the input photos themselves, we advise against doing manual changes on them as you risk removing important information. Slight contrast/brightness adjustment can be ok, but be careful. What you must NEVER do is crop the image or alter it as otherwise that'll confuse Zephyr (from a simple exif mismatch to actually removing information that zephyr will need). If there's unwanted parts in the photos, use 3DF masquerade.

Was this what you meant with main file? if not feel free to elaborate!
