    Detecting adhesive circular reflective markers

I am attempting to add control points to a 3D model of an aluminum plate and a plumbob (see image attached) in Zephyr 3DF and extract their coordinates. I have around 80 small circular markers across both of my objects (see images), and I was hoping that Zephyr 3DF could recognize them as custom markers and complete the full recognition of those markers and their coordinates as imported control points/constraints automatically. However, apparently that feature is only for the printable markers.

Is there any way Zephyr can detect the adhesive circular reflective markers on my object and tell me their coordinates? Is the only way to do this to manually add each of them as a control point/constraint? I originally tried to use the automatic "find markers" feature, but apparently that is only for the printable markers.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

    Hi,

no, unfortunately that is not possible. You'll need to use the coded targets if you want Zephyr to pick them up automatically, otherwise you'll need to add the control points manually yourself, though from those images I'd say that would be very difficult.

Consider at this point taking control points with the proper coded targets (and if possible a total station to obtain the 3D constraint as well), then, get the 3D coordinates you need from the reconstruction, not the other way around.

    I hope this helps!
